Conversations in Conflict Studies:The Political Incorporation of Religious Minorities in Canada and the U.S.

The goal of the project is to understand how differences in political structures, policies regarding immigrant integration and religion, as well as migration patterns, shape the political incorporation of religious minorities in Canada and the U.S. The project focuses specifically on two South Asian groups, Hindus and Sikhs, which manifest very different patterns of mobilization.
About the presenter: Prema Kurien is professor of sociology and director of the Asian/Asian American Studies Program. Her research focuses on the intersection of migration, religion, ethnicity and politics. More information...
