CFAC presents "El Camaron Encantado"
(Concerts / Performances)
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Community Folk Art Center (CFAC) is hosting La Joven Guardia Del Teatro Latino's presentation of "El Camaron Encantado" (The Enchanted Shrimp).
Performed entirely in Spanish, "El Camaron Encantado" is a story adapted and directed by Jose Miguel Hernandez Hurtado. "El Camaron Encantado tells the story of Loppi, a poor lumberjack who, whilst looking for food, finds a very old shrimp, that turns out to be not an ordinary one, but a magic one. In return for his freedom, the shrimp grants him multiple wishes and richness.
"El Camaron Encantado" was originally written by the French author Edouard Rene Lefebvre de Laboulaye (1811 - 1883), and recreated later by the Cuban poet Jose Marti.
This performance is presented in collaboration with La Liga: The Spanish Action League of Onondaga County.
