Conversations in Conflict Studies Series: A Voice for Peace in the Congo
(Speakers)

Kambale Musavuli, a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is a human rights activist and national spokesperson for the grassroots advocacy organization Friends of the Congo. Musavuli has written for The Washington Post and Foreign Policy in Focus, has been interviewed on National Public Radio, Democracy Now, ABC News and Al Jazeera English Television, and appears in Martin Scorsese's film "Surviving Progress." His goal is to mobilize the global community to help bring an end to the conflict in the Congo and provide support to the people of the Congo as they strive to control their enormous natural wealth and build lasting peace and stability in the heart of Africa.

Musavuli will draw on his astute understanding of the dynamics of the global economy and politics and their impact on the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo, offering reflections on Ping Chong's "Cry for Peace: Voices from the Congo."
