Atzilut: Concerts For Peace
(Concerts / Performances)
Atzilut: Concerts For Peace is an inspiring and harmonious 8 person band comprised of Jewish and Arabic members. Atzilut demonstrates the strong likelihood for expansive reconciliation between two conflicting cultures by creating an unconventional collaboration and amity through music. This extraordinary group delivers a well-balanced program of Jewish and Arabic music, language and tradition, including segments of powerful duet singing for peace. Prior to their high-energy concert, the group will provide a principal workshop on Middle Eastern rhythms and customary percussion patterns. For further information, contact the SU Arts Engage Office at 315-443-0296.
Workshop at 3 p.m.:
Prior to the high-energy concert, you are to a slam-bang percussion workshop! Under the direction of player and teacher Yusef Tayoun, we will explore the ancient and amazing world of Middle Eastern rhythm. These patterns provide a powerful underpinning to the Middle Eastern song tradition.
Come early! Bring a drum if you have one, or prepare to clap your hands and stomp your feet! We will provide a few drums for those who wish to try their hands.
