Helen Lefkowitz Horowitz is Sydenham Clark Parsons Professor, emerita, at Smith College. Her 2002 Rereading Sex: Battles over Sexual Knowledge and Suppression in Nineteenth-Century America was one of three finalists for the Pulitzer Prize in History.
